The SFV Audubon Grow Native SFV program promotes and fosters education, action, and advocacy leading to habitat restoration and preservation everywhere, but mainly in our defined territory. and especially in relation to supporting avian habitat. A basic tenet is that our native flora will support our native fauna, as has been the case for millenia.
The Audubon California branch of the National Audubon Society has an excellent discussion of the many reasons native plant landscaping is beneficial for all – birds, bugs and humans alike. In addition, see the article for a link to bird-friendly plants and where to get them in your area. Our Audubon at Home brochure is specifically designed for the SFV Audubon area.
Resources: We at SFV Audubon have developed and update a list of native plant resources including local suppliers.
