SFVAS is proud to announce that our very own Pat Bates has been honored as an Inspirational Woman of the San Fernando Valley for 2026!
This wonderful recognition from the United Chambers celebrates Pat’s lifelong dedication to our community.
As a Board member of San Fernando Valley Audubon and Chair of the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Areas Steering Committee, Pat has been a passionate voice for conservation and environmental advocacy. She’s worked closely with the LA City Fire Department on everything from native pollinator gardens to vegetation management.
Most recently, she spearheaded an innovative pilot project bringing a thousand goats into the Sepulveda Basin to reduce fire risk by clearing invasive brush, protecting both our community and the habitat that birds and wildlife depend on.
Pat’s tireless commitment to preserving our natural spaces makes her an inspiration to us all.
