Los Angeles Park Needs Assessment

The City of Los Angeles is excited to begin work on updating its Park Needs Assessment for the first time since 2009. The Park Needs Assessment will be a roadmap to just and fair capital investment in parks and recreation and equitable connections to quality parks and recreation, to meet current and future needs of residents!   Here is a link to the Phase 1 Survey Results. There is a new Summer 1025 Survey  – please take a few minutes to fill this out! There are 3 remaining in-person community meetings and a final Zoom meeting 7/1/2025. Check website for dates, times, and to access prior supplementary materials, meeting recordings, etc.

Our Los Angeles City parks have been severely underfunded since about 2009 when the City began a full “cost recovery program” Here is a link to an article regarding the situation. In any event – please fill out the survey and try to attend a meeting. We need more funding for Park Rangers, maintenance, and expanding our park system to serve the needs of 4,000,000 Angelenos.
