This presentation by Andrea Jones will focus on the Salton Sea, an inland saline lake covering 35 square miles in Southern California. The Salton Sea is a critically important area that hosts two-thirds of California’s bird species.
The future of the lake, and the effect on all its wildlife, is very much uncertain. In this presentation, attendees will learn which species are most threatened and what is being done by SFVAS and our partners to preserve this unique habitat.
For the past 12 years, Andrea Jones has been at the forefront of conservation programs, collaborating with staff and Audubon chapters across the state to implement projects in high-priority bird areas. As the Interim Executive Director and Senior Director of Conservation for Audubon California, Andrea leads efforts to protect vulnerable bird species and serves as the spokesperson for bird conservation throughout the state. She holds an M.S. in Wildlife Conservation/Ornithology and a B.S. in Wildlife Biology, both from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
