Evening at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Lake

Our November 19 evening birding excursion at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Lake and visit to the Woodley Lakes Golf Course bar was a success. We will do it again – probably Wednesday January 21, 2026. This time we will have signs for the correct parking lot, and preferably no fires! Here is a link to the eBird list, with some lovely photos by SFVAS board member Susan White attached. High points included the Acorn Woodpeckers and the large flock of Snowy Egrets coming in to roost on the island. By mid-january we should have many American White Pelicans at the lake, and the Great Horned Owls will be nesting.

On December 20 we welcome you to our Christmas Bird Count trips and join us afterwards for Birds & Beer at the Woodley Lakes Golf Course – see our calendar for detailed descriptions, times, directions and to sign up for Birds & Beer. Best wishes for the Holiday Season!
