Almost Turkey Day Birds & Beer!

Sunset excursion to lovely Lake Balboa ! Get together at Best Ball Bar!

Meet at the Woodley Lakes Golf Course flag pole at 4:30 PM, directions are below. Plan for a leisurly excursion crossing Hayvenhurst Creek from the golf course and heading to the north end of Lake Balboa, with a detour to Bull Creek to possibly see Hooded Mergansers, then continuing around the lake and back to the golf course and Best Ball Bar for appetizers and no-host bar at about 6:00 PM.

We are asking people to RSVP so we can make the appropriate arrangements and also contact you in the event of changes! Significant rain will cancel birding, will re-survey social hour! The walk and social hour are free but donations are appreciated – you may make a donation using this link!

Best Ball Bar at Woodley Lakes Golf Course: 6331 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91406. You need to turn west on “Lake Balboa”. It is 2 drives south of the Orange line. You may also access the venue by driving through the Lake Balboa park from Balboa Blvd. – continue all the way around to the golf course.

Free bird books: We have received a collection of bird-related books from an estate and will be giving many away – first come first served. Do you have items to give away or exchange – bring them!

Equipment and Clothing: Wear sturdy shoes, and otherwise dress appropriately for the weather. You may want to bring drinking water depending on temperature. Bring binoculars and cameras! The path along Lake Balboa will be lit but you may want to bring a flashlight!
