Veterans Memorial Park spans 97 scenic acres, featuring rolling hills, grassy picnic spots, a large pavilion, camping areas, and a community recreation building. Originally the site of a Veterans Hospital built in the 1940s, the park’s landscape changed dramatically after the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake caused severe damage. In 1972, the U.S. government transferred the property to Los Angeles County, leading to its demolition and subsequent rebuilding. The park was officially dedicated in 1979.
