There were 13 “early birders” with Jim Moore this year for his Birdathon event. They began at
4:30 am., and continued until 8:30 pm. Jim reports the group got good looks at Lesser
Nighthawks this year, and a few birds that had not been seen before on this walk. Also there
were some birds that were not seen this year that were usual finds in previous years.
As of this writing, Jim said he could not give a true final count yet. He is waiting to verify the
identity of one bird. He does expect that they will end up with a final count of 127. That’s a lot
of birds!
This was Jim’s ninth year to lead the Antelope Valley Birdathon walk.
